Tips For Terrible Two's

In General:
-Don't give in.
-Ignore the bad and reward the good.
-Establish a routine and follow it.
-Parents are the role model and will be immitated.
-It's ok to say no, but Mom & Dad are boss.

Eating:
-Do not force or cajole them to eat.
-Eat with them and let them feed themselves.
-Do not feed them too much juice or milk.
-They will not starve and will eat when they are hungary.
-When fighting the high chair, let them go to the next level.
-Don't expect them to eat perfectly but guide them to use their eating utensils.
-"Food stays on the tray" instead of "do not throw food"

Tantrums:
-Ignore them for a while.
-Remove them from area for a time out. 1 minute for every year old.
-Distract them with a toy, activity, DVD or sing.
-Might be hungary, need sleep, over stimulated or sick.

Sleeping:
-Once they have escaped the crib, adjust to toddler bed or mattress and talk to them about sleeping in their very own "big girl" or "big boy" bed.
-Follow a bed time routine nightly but keep it simple.
-You may have to temporarily lock the door or gate them in.
-If the will not nap, then they should play quietly for normal nap time.
